This is one of Chopin’s many Nocturnes written for solo piano. Chopin composed almost solely for solo piano and wrote 169 compositions for solo piano which he generally also performed. The Reason why Chopin’s piano compositions and specifically Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2 is considered a famous piece for the piano is due to the many difficulties with playing Chopin. The difficulties of playing Chopin are the large chords of the base line, the rubato time of the piece and the very soft and quiet playing style associated with Chopin due to his tuberculosis. Also Chopin was and is the creator of the modern piano style.
